Data Scientist vs Engineer

When I was in college I could barely make a difference. But, down the career lane, these are two different career perspectives.

While Software Engineering is more to do with building applications for clients, data science is the art of analysing data sets and visualising the data through charts inorder to conclude a business decision.

Choosing the right career.

If you want a mix of both maths and programming, data science should be your career of choice. You can provide valuable business insights like sales forcast, budgeting etc. and save millions of dollars for your clients, help businesses make the right decision. Roles include Business Analysts.

If you want to develop applications for business, where a user can interact with an application and want to provide users with the right experience, you can opt for Software Engineering. With programming you can build things other people can use. If this is your passion, then thats what the career helps you achieve. You will be dealing with front end, backend, databases and queries.
